Guy has started up shows again finally after EI.  During the break he decided to try new things.  His 4yo Stockhorse Gelding Spinabbey has been a talent since the first day Guy rode him.  He started cantering sideways as easy as forwards.  Now Guy has turned up his training and Spinabbey canters half-pass backwards and is now starting to canter backwards a few strides.  We have also just bought a grey and white paint Brahman Bull Calf.  He is 7 months old and has already learnt to lay down to a cue and is very cute.  You will hopefully see him at shows some time in the future.

We got married at our home in Maryborough on a beautiful day on 26 April.  Guy rode in on Nugget with his groomsmen Rocket and Nigel riding Sequel and Teggun.  I rode in sidesaddle on my 3yo Stockhorse Gelding Nalkari Akula Moon (Louis).  Guy's daughter April is 6yo now and she, along with my 6yo niece Olivia, were the cutest flowergirls.  My stunning bridesmaids were my best friend since we were 11yo, Jackie and Guy's sister Skye (who had only given birth to her baby boy, Hunter, 3 months beforehand).  Hunter was the perfect baby with not only lapping up the girls at my hen's night but spending the whole day with us on the wedding day taking it all in.  Dear friend, Angus Lane, was our celebrant, who along with his wife, Vicki, made the day so special for us.  We had many wonderful family and friends help celebrate our special day.  Please click on the Fan Club to see our amazing present from the Knight family (Simon, Bridget, Georgia & Jack), Warrenbri Romeo's Lass.  We celebrated our reception at the Brolga Theatre in town, followed up by our honeymoon at King Ludwig's Bavarian Station Cabin at Maleny.  Check them out if you're up for a romantic getaway they're the loveliest family.

Unfortunately we lost Nugget and Barglo's latest filly.  She will be sadly missed in our front paddock.  A fond memory we both have of her is when moving to our new home a couple of km's away, Guy transported the horses by riding or leading them up the road.  The filly at a couple of months old was very quickly taught to be halter broken and off they went.  Guy riding Nugget, leading Barglo on one side and the filly cantering by her father on the other side was a wonderful sight.

We have just returned home from the Brisbane Ekka after entertaining crowds for 10 days.  The crowd was a little down in numbers but made up for it in quality.  Whilst at the Ekka Guy released his new DVD 'The Lad and The Colt'.  This new DVD has 12 of Guy's favourite original poems.  Details of how to purchase this DVD and his Horsemanship DVDs are available on the homepage.

Guy had a four horse act this year and never ceases to amaze his fans.  The latest edition to the team is a three year old Australian Stockhorse Gelding named Quietway Spinabbey.  Spinabbey is by Guy's 'Docs Spinifex' stallion QP Power Play out of a great granddaughter of the immortal Stockhorse sire Abbey.  Though not a dun by Nugget, Spinabbey has found his way into the team due to his extreme athleticism.   Spinabbey will canter completely sideways,  canter spin, canter pirouette, canter on the spot and even canter half pass backwards.  Eventually Spinabbey may even canter backwards.  Spinabbey is turning the heads of the average horse person as well as the professionals.  Guy believes that Spinabbey is something really special.

Quietway Kenny first went to the Ekka as a two year old in 2006.  This year as a three year old, Kenny was once again entertaining the crowds and standing up to the job in his liberty and ridden work.  Kenny became quite the comedian of the group when joined by his brothers, a character that is becoming a favourite to the thousands of people who have witnessed his personality.

The big boys, Quietway Hope and Quietway Sequel worked as seasoned performers again this year (at the tender ages of six).  They showed their high levels of training and trust allowing an incredible finale of Sequel laying down whilst allowing Spinabbey, Kenny and Hope, who came from a distance, to all stand over the top of him.

The big news is Guy proposed to Jessica in the Main Arena on Saturday night.  It was Guy and Jessica's third year at the Ekka together and Guy thought it to be perfect timing to ask Jessica to marry him.  To Jessica's surprise, Guy had written a poem to recite at the end of their performance.  It went a little like this.

You have been a breath of scented air
That's brightened up my world
My heart once closed and shriveled
Your love has helped it to unfurl.

To shine once more, believing
That there's hope and joy and fun
In this world we share together
Not as two, but as one.

Your love for horses and the life I chose
Your class, your style, your grace
Your beauty and that gorgeous smile
That brightens up your face.

Just a few reasons why I love you
Why I want to share my life
With you my friend, my lover
And if you answer yes, my wife.

Jessica, will you marry me?
